UAE Tax & Audit FAQs

VAT registration is mandatory when your taxable supplies and imports exceeded AED 375,000 over the previous 12 months, or are expected to exceed it in the next 30 days. Businesses above AED 187,500 can register voluntarily. The standard VAT rate in the UAE is 5%.

Yes, in most cases. UAE companies and other juridical persons, including free zone entities, must register for Corporate Tax with the Federal Tax Authority even if they expect to pay no tax. Taxable income up to AED 375,000 is taxed at 0%, and income above that at 9%.

Often, yes. Many free zone authorities and mainland licensing rules require audited financial statements, and under Corporate Tax rules businesses with revenue above AED 50 million and Qualifying Free Zone Persons must prepare them. We carry out independent audits under International Standards on Auditing.

An internal audit tests your controls, processes and compliance before problems become costly. It identifies operational and financial risks early, uncovers fraud and inefficiencies, strengthens governance, and gives management practical recommendations to improve how the business runs.

The Federal Tax Authority selects businesses for audit based on risk, notifies them in advance, and reviews their tax returns, accounting records and supporting documents, comparing them with similar businesses. Accurate records and correct filings are the best protection, and we support you throughout the audit.

Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs), such as real estate brokers, dealers in precious metals and stones, auditors and accountants, and corporate service providers, must register on goAML, the UAE Financial Intelligence Unit platform. We guide you through registration and set up a practical AML compliance programme.
